A poem of love and long distance. Feel free to offer suggestions :). |
When I came here, I didn't expect to be captivated The way you captivate me. In truth, I didn't expect To find love at all. You were a great surprise. You sparkle brighter Than any other star in the sky. You immediately caught my attention, And for that, I am thankful. When the going gets rough, Remember: You are always on my mind. You have stolen my heart, And I will always be yours. When the going gets rough, We cannot give up. We must remember, That the struggle now Is just an obstacle That will make us stronger In the end. Things will not always be pleasant. Loneliness will tug at our hearts. It will pull us away From the closeness we feel now. We will grow weary And tire of the struggle. We will misunderstand each other On the phone, And tensions will run high. We will want to throw in the towel, But we must remember, When the going gets rough, There is a force stronger Than our insecurity. That force is love. And no distance, Is great enough, To sever a bond, That is truly there. I am writing this for you, My dear, My Love, For when the going gets rough, And you feel the river running dry, You will have a fresh well To drink from, and renew The springs of life That you know are there. Read this, My Love, When you need encouragement. Breathe it and cherish it, As your lungs do, The air in which you breathe. The road must not end When the going gets rough... |
