Perhaps one should not pass out on the job.
This is the last time I will ever leave him at home alone with her…and the mead supply I just restocked. She ran out to me, giggling and grinning like a fool. At first I smiled; She danced gleefully out of the cottage door across the ground like a little fairy child. I gave her a disapproving look when I noticed she was still wearing her night dress, curly brown hair loose and matted with fluff and dirt.
“Lili-” The windows shuddered slightly as a bellowing growl cut off my scolding and shook the cottage walls very slightly. She giggled evilly and attempted to dart into the wood; however, her Mama Fox was too swift for her.
“What did you do Lilian?” she let out a high pitched giggle.
“Papa looks pretty now Mama!” The door slammed open, nearly flying off the hinges in the process. My husband stood in the archway, glowering at us, ice blue eyes glowing in the setting darkness.
Papa Wolf spent the majority of his days in half form…today was no exception. He stood near 7ft tall, black wolf ears perked in irritation atop his curly graying black hair. His muzzle was protruding slightly from his face, fangs poking out slightly. A light coating for grey and black fur coated his muscular arms and chest. His feet were mostly paw and digging deeply into the ground.
“Look what she did to my tail!” I hid my grin behind my paw; she giggled cutely and twitched her white fluffy rabbit ears to and fro. “Do you see what she did? Look at it Willow! She maimed my tail!” Maimed she did. Clumps of fur were missing and bits of blood were fried and matted within the pieces still there.
“Well.” I giggled. “Perhaps the next time I leave her in your care you will actually take care of her instead of drinking half the mead supply and passing out before the fire place. Be glad she did not stick it in the open flames.” I was answered with an angry growl as he shifted completely to his wolf form and ran off into the wood. I felt no remorse.
“Lush.” I said it loud enough for him to hear and return the endearing insult with an almost whiny howl. Perhaps he has learned his lesson…likely not.
