An Irish man not an English man
A family man to the end
For some that are still with us
A long and cherished friend
A man in ways other men should strive to be
A respected man, whose name sits deservingly
on top of our family tree
A man who gave to charity
Even when he couldn’t
He always gave one more chance
Even when he shouldn’t
As a youth, he was sometimes hard to take
He spoke humbling truths, but never once fake
He was extremely grateful for even
the smallest gifts
Displaying overwhelming joy
that proved a great uplift
He was always honest, sometimes a feared
But to all our family
he was definitely revered
He was a dedicated parent until his dying day
Of matters of importance he had the final say
He was inquisitive into all our lives
No matter where we where he wouldn’t tolerate lies
Our Granddad was an active participant
in each and all our lives
It’s hard to come to terms with
we have said our final goodbyes
