The Devil inside us... |
I really don't understand the Bible stories... but I'm open to suggestions. Take Sarah and Tobias in the book of Tobias for example~ "(Sarah) had been given to seven husbands, and a devil named Asmodeous had killed them, at first going into her." (Tobias Ch3:8)." Tobias likes Sarah and begs God to allow him to marry her. A large fish assaults Tobias along the river Tigris. The angel Azarias advises Tobias to grab the fish by the gills and gut it. The liver will be burned to drive off the demon from Sarah. Does this sound odd? Then angel Raphael tells Tobias~ "And on that night(wedding night)lay the liver of the fish on the fire, and devil shall be driven away. (Tobias Ch6:19)." "Then the angel Raphael took the devil, and bound him in the desert of upper Egypt. (Tobias Ch8:3)." I guess the moral of this story is love conquers all, but why is fish liver is necessary? ~Revelations~ Rev.~ "Then the serpent spouted water like a river out of his mouth after the woman in an attempt to sweep her away by a flood. But the woman was given two wings of a giant eagle so that she could fly out into the wilderness to the place God prepared for her. (Revelations Ch12:14-15)." Am I seeing an adversarial relation between male and female? Or perhaps the serpent doesn't like women? Well, women make babies and babies are the future of Adam's seed. But, the serpent tempted Adam&Eve with .. knowledge? or was it defiance? Nothing can happen without God's consent. God can stop the serpent. But, this drama continues.. for entertainment? This is very irrational. Is God sane? Just kibitzing. .. I'd like to know what you think. Sincerely, Muzzy <^> |
