An attempt to write a French Huitain |
| This is a Huitain. Simply, a Huitain (from the French for eight) is a poem with eight lines each of which must contain eight syllables. There are a few possible rhyme schemes for the Huitain. This one is "ababbcbc". Mom says I must take a shower, When I just took one yesterday. But her voice carries such power: Undress and stand beneath the spray. Hot soapy water finds its way down my bare back. Soon I must pout, Because of what my Mom will say: "You're clean enough. Time to get out!" |
