Love runs, it's hard, that's why relationships don't work. Right? |
“Love don’t run.” “Love don’t hide.” These words play through the radio, And they sit, occupied in my mind for hours. It’s a pure feeling – love, When you feel it in its actuality. Or so I’ve heard. “Love don’t run.” But I run. I run from everything and everyone. Yet I think I can still love.. Right? “Love don’t back down from a fight,” The radio purrs. Love stands strong. Love holds true. These messages come from every romance story. It’s a universal idea: That love is solid. Or it should be. Then what have I been doing? My love is solid.. right? I stand strong. I stand true to it. Sort of. When faced with confrontation, I retreat. I hide. Then I run. I run from the situation. Then from the causer of the situation. From the people who are important to me. “Love don’t hide.” Hiding is safer. Hiding protects you. “Cause love’s too tough.” “It won’t give up, no, not on us.” Love? Tough? But love is soft and light and happy, right? That’s why it never works. This song says otherwise though.. “This is gonna make us stronger.” “Gonna make forever longer.” But that’s not true! Just look at all the divorces, At all the unhappy relationships! Love does not “make forever longer”. Love can destroy a future. People leave And hurt each other Constantly. Right? “But Love Don’t Run.” Love "don't" run? Unless… Unless love doesn’t run. Unless love doesn’t hide. Unless we mistake infatuation for love. Unless love is harder to find than we think it is. Unless love, Love, in its actuality, Is pure, And worth fighting for, Not running from. Song clips are from "Love Don't Run" by Steve Holy. |
