My First Haircut

My mommy says my hair is long,
She wants it cut and I feel that is wrong.
I like long hair it flows so well,
But mommy says to fix it she fails.
She don’t like working with long hair,
But with it short I feel like a square.
Mommy says it will be cute,
But she will feel my rebuke.
I want my way, it is my hair,
To the beauty shop, I don’t want to go there.
We pull up to the front of the shop,
That is when my mouth did drop.
So many women in the chairs,
So many sites so many smells.
I pull back but mommy grabs my shirt,
I’d rather be off playing in the dirt.
Through the door we two did go,
It’s time for them to put on a show.
I feel scared, a bit afraid,
But mommy said I’ve got it made.
A lady comes towards me,
This woman is a site to see.
Her hair is white, her lips are red,
Her long nails are real she said.
She spoke with mommy about my style,
And they decided on a pixie cut.
“What is that”, I did speak up.
“Come over to my chair,
I’ve got a style beyond compare.”
I looked up at her, afraid to flinch,
I’ve lost my fight, I’ll throw in the wrench.
A mirror larger than any I ever saw,
Covered every bit of the wall.
Pictures of people everywhere,
Showing off the newly cut hair.
She covers me with a cape,
So my clothes will stay clean and straight.
She turns me from the mirror so I can’t see,
Than snip, snip, snip, she’s busy as a bee.
My beautiful hair falls to the ground,
And I make whimper, but that’s the only sound.
My mother smiles, she is very proud,
But me, I want to scream out loud.
My first haircut I hope is the last,
But the woman is done now, boy that’s fast.
She whirls me around to face the looking glass,
Oh my words I think I got class.
I look and my hair it is as short as can be,
But it’s a look I think will suit me.
By my surprise I am amazed,
I look older, much older than my days.
Yes my first haircut it was a blast,
Now I’m not afraid, I hope this style will last.
My pixie cut at the beauty shop
It was as fun as sucking on a lemon drop.
