poem for my beloved |
I hear the words that I've heard a million times, I say them to people that mean so much to me, I say it when I'm scared, When I'm happy, When I cry, While I break, When I'm whole. Those words mean the world to me, They say in the simplest way, how I feel. But when you say them, I know those three little words, Those words that can mean everything, That you say it with every ounce of your being, That you mean it, That you too, feel the way I do. It's not just that you say it, It's the WAY you say it... Like I'm your whole world, That nothing else matters, That I'm the ONE. And then there's those moments when you tell me whats rattling in that head of yours, You say it with hesitation, With your heart, With your soul.. You pour out those words, And I know it means everything in the world to you. And you trust me enough to think and know that I won't judge you, That I won't hurt you, That I won't dismiss your words like they're nothing, Because you know those words I will say to you when you're done, Those words mean the world to me too, And they ring true to my heart, And I'm the one and only person that won't break your heart. Then there's those moments I tell you of my life, my feelings, my world, And you just stare into my eyes with intent, Unfailingly, you grab me and wrap your arms around my body, And you tell me without hesitation, "Everything is okay, I'm here now, don't worry, you're mine now. I won't let anything happen to you." And I melt in your arms, I let out a cry of relief, happiness, sadness and even a little bit of anger, And you just hug me tighter and give me a kiss on the forehead. I know with every word you say to me, Every word I say to you, That we are meant to be together. That our lives were meant to intertwine. I love you, John Richard Wright Jr. |
