The Furnace

The furnace made a strange noise

Which distracted the playing boys

It bumped and clunked and hissed in the night

The boys awoke with a fright

It’s nothing said dad

If it is bad

I will get it fixed

But the next day

The furnace had the last laugh

As it had eaten

Everyone in the house

It had to feed on fresh souls
