This poem compares the genocide in Sudan to the Holocaust
Today’s Holocaust (dedicated to Jon)

God’s greatly loved lambs
Meekly led to slaughter,
Where parents helplessly watched
Deaths of their sons and daughters.

Packed like sardines in boxcars
An entire country watched emotionless,
As hundreds of thousands of souls
Traveled to the depths of Hell.

Stone soap and gas showers
Medical experiments,
Lamp shades made of skin
Ashes snowed upon tenements.

Unspeakable atrocities
Wielded by man’s hand
Those who survived witnessed
Man’s inhumanity to man.

Where was God in the camps?
Why didn’t He better things?
God gave us free will to make choices
We are not puppets on strings.

Survivors tell their stories
So that none will forget,
Man did not learn from history
As genocide in Sudan, man begets.

Tears of angels fall to earth
Intentionally ignored by most
A phoenix arises from spilt blood
Flying up to the Heavenly Host.

Open your eyes to the genocide
You won’t find in the news,
It’s a dirty secret of rape and murder
Wake up! Don’t use ignorance as an excuse.

God’s blessings will rain upon you
If you open your heart to their plight,
There is much you can do
To help Sudan in their fight.
