For Mom

In memory of one I loved.

I close my eyes and see
A warm smile, looking back at me

It belongs to a woman.

The world was bright,
We were always bathed in sunlight.
Time came, and things changed
As did we, her and me

I know she's only sleeping.

But all that went unsaid
All my regrets
Will stay with me
Until I see her again

We'll be laughing and smiling as we once had.

And maybe I can be forgiven
And all will be forgotten
I told her I loved her, and if she could,
She would have said the same.
