THE COOKIE LAMENT What are these being shipped by a large truck ? With a dolly , five labourers , and a driveway filled with muck . It's been at least ninety seconds or more since they began piling up by the door , And they're stacking them up as far and as high, as ever they've been piled before. They are cookies , all - too - many cookies ! ! ! And in all available spaces You'll find boxes and boxes stuffed up to our grim faces And many more cookies besides. And there's not much danger, Of squeezing in much else or hiding a stranger. Because walls and walls of cases Shored up with furniture, doors and braces, Will help fund camps, crafts, and crests. And give our Guides, all Guides, the very best. What are these still stacked by my front door? All I see are cookies, cookies and more. Maybe the day will come, when they are gone - - every last crumb! And I'll be singing a song, and telling a tale of millions of cookies, except some!! There were cookies, too many cookies! And in attics, dens ,and crawl-spaces You will find Guiders covering their faces. With unsteady hands and quivering lips They'll be mumbling about clever selling tips. There's a price to pay for each cookie mile, But it's all worthwhile to see a Girl Guide SMILE! ! !
