if I had not known about the monsters under my bed

which you had personally put down there

wouldn't it have been a pity

if I didn't stay up all night

after you told me a grim story

wouldn't it have been wrong

if I never dreaded the door

to the room where your vampires would throng

wouldn't it have been a shame

if you hadn't been my mother

I may have ended up sane!
