The importance and ways to sleep well |
After a harsh, tiring day, everyone requires a good night’s sleep. A proper slumber not only helps to regain energy for the next day, but it also helps to repair all the wear and tear any human body and brain experiences during the day. A six to eight hour sleep is essential to recharge one’s body. People should learn to look at the clock every time before going to bed. Even the time to wake up should be fixed. There is a cliché, yet wise saying regarding this: “Early to bed and early to rise Makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.” There are many nocturnal birds amongst us who would rather spend the whole night doing other important works instead of sleeping. The cellphone operators offer special packages after midnight, which seem beneficial for all the Romeo’s and Juliet’s out there. After all, the young men would not have to be scared of getting caught by their parents while talking to their sweethearts after midnight. Hello girls! We do need our beauty sleep right? Otherwise you’d have to meet your special one with dark circles under your eyes. None would ever like that. If you need to make up for lost sleep during the day, a thirty- minute nap should suffice. Beware! If you are an insomniac, you should cut down the naptime to fifteen minutes, otherwise you will not be able to sleep at night. To fight after dinner drowsiness, something mild or less stressful can be done. Some people are so in love with sunshades that they tend to use it all the time. At least reduce dependency on them during mornings. The sunlight should be allowed to fall on your face. Moreover, try to spend more time outside during the day. Too much external noise prevents your mind from settling down. Therefore, if you want to hit the hay quickly, get away from all the noise. On the other hand, it would be very uncomfortable to sleep in a really congested room. Make sure you have sufficient space in your room, and it should be cool enough too. Here in Bangladesh, it is very hot and humid almost throughout the year so make sure you have a good fan hanging on your ceiling which works. Everyone cannot afford a luxury item like an air conditioner, so be happy if you have the ability to enjoy an A.C. Besides, your bed should be comfortable enough to sleep in. It should be neither too soft nor too hard. Use your bed for sleeping only. That way your body will give you the vibe that it is time to get some shut-eye whenever you climb up to bed. Working constantly on a computer might prevent a sound sleep, so take breaks while working at the computer. Get down with a book. Reading a good book just before going to bed would help you to calm yourself down. Even a good shower helps a sound sleep. Listen to some soft music, brush your hair, say a silent prayer and get under the blanket. You’ll soon visit the pleasant land of sleep. Sweet dreams! |
