Now and then

Christmas Night

Children settled down in their beds for the night.
Homes filled with holiday laughter and gifts.
Round the world one hears hymns and prayers
In anticipation for the moment to come.
Stars filled the clear, awesome night’s sky.
Two thousand and fourteen years ago as
Mary and Joseph welcomed their newborn child.
Angels sang praise to God on high
Silent night, holy night, peace on earth.
