A Sad End, A New Beginning

Oh the tiny kitten comes into the world

Sweet and gentle never fearing nor knowing

All the time he spends a playing and growing

He knows not the dangers which lurk out of doors

Waiting to pounce on him as he leaps off the floor

so alarming, he waits



The Canine he seeks to devour the cat

I know that I must protect him and stop that

That dog has already killed a few-

That dog has already killed a few

And I know that he will never be through

So the hounddog just sits in view



One day I let Mingo out after a storm

A warm summer’s day –a summer’s day so warm

He had a nice time picking in the grass-n-plants

He even found food in our garden remnants

He played in the yard about an hour or two

Then I started looking for him.



I called out his name with a voice so loud

I know he could hear me I have a big mouth

No where in sight was my baby to be seen

So my husband took off and walked down the road

At a neighbor’s house there he lay in repose

At a neighbor’s house he lay .



scooped him up in his arms did he ,and brought him home to me.

Home to me did he bring my cat, the dog had taken thee

In the front yard near the tree I shall bury my baby.

His sister had the same fate with in a week

That dog’s life I seek, I’m tired of being meek.

But his life I can not take.



A pretty grave I created for you both

I planted flowers for you there and see much growth

Such growth in the flowers I planted, for you there

I shed so many tears, it really isn’t fair.

Everyone tried to console me, but they can’t

You can not be replaced .



Mingo and Wylee lay together side by side

‘Neath the cold dark earth is where they do reside

They reside ‘neath the cold dark earth I fear.

You were mine and I loved you so for six years.

A sad tale does this make, Oh for Heaven’s sake

I know you are Heaven Bound.

Three kittens did I get, but I still could not forget,

Named them Puma, Panda, and Teaco, and they fret

They are scared of every thing, I’ll give them love

Love will I give them they ‘re scared of everything

They’ll come around in time and love they’ll bring

To Mingo I still look



Can’t get him off my mind, he was a rare kind

I have to focus on these three kittens I did find

They are special each in her way, very different

Panda is black and white she is tolerant .

Puma is very shy, Teaco loves to play

I love them all today.



I’ll never forget my special darling Mingo

His picture is with me, I take him when I go

His death it was a nightmare, and broke my heart

But now I’ll pull my self together and make a start

For some tiny little kittens need my help and love

Mingo’s watching from above.



My house is filled with kittens but I must not let them out

They will end up with the same fate, that dogs a lout

I’d like to see that dog lose his lousy life

I will hate him forever, with him there’s only strife.

Now I laugh and love my kittens they are my best friends

They are my best of friends.
