The Recipe For You and I

You and I,
Down the alleys between the fields of corn,
We were chasing the daylight,
The sun, turning from orange to amber
Dying on softly,smouldering skies,
The sun turning flesh to grey stone,
On the crushed beds of torn newspapers,
The sun, taking apparitions wondering in from the storm
And laying them to rest
Under the dust, where the fields end
And the river begins to churn,

You and I,
Swimming in the water, the waves hiding our bodies
Ploughing deeper underneath
The world looked perfectly still
Neither backwards or forwards
We weren't drowning
Our room lay unwrinkled among the fishes on the floor of the sea
We were dressed and ready
And the time for the flight had come
We tasted the blood and the salt
And felt the wetness beneath our brains
And we knew, The window was upon us
We only had to look out and see the trail
Resplendent into the folds
Of the undead and the near,

You and I,
In the corridors where the shadows go out to sing and quietly disappear
Turning and turning,
To the shadows And watching each other
Scattered in the night air We know we are together
As we drink in Our lasting essences

The wind took us, The earth bled us
The night will carry us, The day will bury us,
The weariness will be sprayed on the Soul as the praying begins and chant for further re-birthing

You and I,
Sinking in the mellow smoke like essence,
The stars blink in their passage
And stare out at the silent universe.
