Before Her Wedding

Both the joy and sadness of a mother's heart before the wedding of her only daughter

BEFORE HER WEDDING

Four weeks      why does this
Trouble me so?
Can hardly think about it      SHE will be
So beautiful    So radiant
As my husband walks her down the aisle to where
HE will be waiting for her  at the alter
So handsome        so loving
With eyes only for HER

When they first started dating
They moved with an UNSPOKEN SYNCHRONICITY
I knew then 
That HE would be the ONE

Oh Lord, I pray, grant them PEACE and HUMILITY
Expand their borders
And continue to draw them    to YOURSELF
Help them to recognize    that as they draw closer to You individually
Their closeness to each other    will be further strengthened and blessed.

I also ask, Lord
That You would strengthen ME
For their special day    quiet my HEART within me
I rejoice for BOTH of them
And still
I want
To hold my DAUGHTER close
And whisper,
"Can I keep you?"
