A very early poem about my love of trees |
| First Love When I was just a girl I fell Totally, irrevocably, and forever I fell In love with trees Trees in all seasons Trees for all reasons Strong, majestic and tall Even when they are just small I fall, in love with trees With beautiful blossom or autumnal hues I fall in love - in love with trees In all their glory I choose Their pale coloured trunks of red or brown Their branches spreading out or down I fall - in love with trees Poets adore them, singers sing of them And I? I love them In forests among their peers Or alone standing tall I love them Trees bringing joy, trees bringing tears I love them all above the rest Gently cradling the smallest of nests Home for many a creature small There is nothing so good at hiding them all So, love them I will until The trees and I, are at rest by Coral Boucher |
