My perspective on color in the world. Also, I wanted to make people think a tad bit.
Let's talk colors, folks...
Do you think it's strange that as a child,
I never knew what to color folks?
Especially colored folks...
You see, I've owned coloring books...
But as I look back...
I've noticed there existed no "colored" books,
Among those coloring books...
You see, every person I colored was often white,
Or light-skinned...
I even wanted to be off-white,
Or at least a lighter skin...
Saddest part about it...
I went through this phase,
Where I felt as smart as Steve Urkal,
And yet, I thought my family didn't matter...
Because we were black...
I mean...they'd tell us,
In history class, about this land of Red, White, and Blue,
And then I'd see the Crips and the Bloods,
And I decided I wanted to be White...
I mean, in today’s world people are rising up to say ‪#‎blacklivesmatter‬,
Because it scares us,
The idea, that there are people who would kill people over color...
But I've seen it all my life...
Black people killing black people, over colors...
Talk about a dark hole...
Does dark matter...?
Scientifically speaking, it's just a theory...
But I believe that it does...
I believe we are black and beautiful...
Dark matters...
And so to all the brothers,
Who wave a flag,
Pointing "pieces" at young minds,
Put down the colors...
Don’t wave a flag,
I just want peace for these young minds...
If you ever see me repping colors,
I've probably packed some coloring pencils...
And this was all just an outline you could draw inspiration from...
Something like a stencil...
