A group of gentically modified misfits band together to defeat a lovesick man. CHAPTER 3.
I never thought I would ever have to knock a man out with a apple. But, hey, there's a first time for everything right? Picking the pint sized weapon up from the ground by the poor sods head, I take a bite. No point in wasting a good apple. I hop one handed over the gate he was guarding with ease and stroll down to the train tracks. The tracks fade off into the unlit tunnel. Luckily for me, no one ever bothered to actually install any proper security or surveillance down here, since the powers that be think we're too afraid or too stupid (probably both) to do what I'm doing. I push the left sleeve of my hoodie up and double tap what looks like a bar-code tattoo on the inside of my left wrist. A deep green keypad flickers on to the center of my lower arm. Tapping in the right code, a large LED light shines out from the middle of my hand. Having a bionic arm is so useful at times. True, only the lower half of my arm is a prosthetic, but it is still extremely useful. After I lost it last year when a job went extremely wrong, I had to build my own replacement and lets just say I made it fucking kick ass. The only prosthetic that can do even half the stuff mine can is Cara's right leg. You see, she couldn't afford to buy one after the accident (she was with me when I lost my arm) and absolutely hated it. So I built her a completely souped up new leg (this was before I'd built my prosthetic arm) for Valentines Day that year. God knows how I'll be able to top that this year.

Making my way along the train tracks with my hand lighting the way, my mind focuses on the music blasting in my ears. Fallen Angels by Black Veil Brides, one of my favorites. The tunnel stretches out in front of me and I sigh. This walk takes forever. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the rats and stuff that are moving around in my beam of light. Still munching on my apple, I keep strolling down the train tunnel. The only thing that stops me? Another light shining out from the right side of the tunnel. My pace picks up and I practically run towards the light. Peering into the softly lit side tunnel, my jaw nearly drops. That shit shouldn't be here. A almost glimmering train sits proudly on the tracks, the tainted windows reflecting me. The presidential carriage. Definitely should not be here. Creeping forward, I look around the carriage for any guards. Absolutely none. My hand hovers over the door handle, unsure of whether or not to go in. The metal practically radiants until my light, almost begging for me to touch it. Oh, what the hell? I grab the handle and push open the door. My heart thumps in my chest. A small gust of wind whistles through the carriage. Taking a deep breathe, I step into the seriously fancy train.

Every surface is cool, shimmering metal, so clean I can see my face in them. Is that really what my hair looks like? Running my fingers through the mess of blue, I keep exploring the carriage. Flowers fall from crystal vases on the sides, the heady scent overpowering. Paintings of the Surface line the walls, the colors practically exploding. Ornate blue sofas sit in a clump around a lavish table full of food. Fancy cakes, finger sandwiches, little chocolates... all foods I can rarely afford. Cara would love this. I gingerly take a white cake with a strawberry on top from the table and bite into it. It tastes delicious, the white coating turning out to be some kinda chocolate. The cake itself is red in color, the taste completely alien to me. It's almost sweet, but not. The whole thing tastes like heaven. My right hand skims over the top of the patterned sofas, feeling the soft fabric under my fingertips. I feel so out of place. I'm used to dirty garages and junkyards, not this. My hand just grasps the door handle that leads further into the train when I hear it. Voices, coming this way. Shit. A wardrobe stands in the corner of the room and I run to it. Just as I step into it, the voices enter the room.

"Another useless trip."

"It wasn't useless, sir. At least we know that he's not there."

"Your sources can't be trusted Park. We need a new plan."

"Trust me, sir, this will work. Just trust me."

"You've been saying that ever since they escaped, Park. It's been eighteen years."

I peek through the doors, my breath caught in my throat. Oh shit shit shit. On the couch sits a young man, who looks only a few years older than me, with floppy hair the color of rust. President Cinco. Opposite him sits a very fat, very ugly old man that I'm guessing is Park. I don't recognize him.

"We'll catch them, sir. I promise you that," the old man wheezes, grabbing a cake with his large fingers. The president rolls his eyes.

"We need to find them. They'll of discovered their powers by now, it's only a matter of time before that bitch tells them everything and we have a war on our hands," Cinco wrings his hands together, looking older by the minute. What the hell is he talking about?

"You worry too much. If those five where going to attack us, they would of done years again. They're most likely dead by now anyway."

"Then we find the bodies. We can't let whoever was buying them get hold of even a hair. The only way we'll be safe is when we have them," Cinco stands and walks over towards my wardrobe. My heart is literally in my mouth and I feel like I'm about to puke. He reaches my doors. He's so close I can smell his morning breathe. Right as he reaches me, he turns to the left and stalks over to a cabinet. I let out a shaky breath. Cinco pulls a large beer from the cabinet and takes a swig.

"They won't ever see them, sir. You have my word," Park says carefully, his words almost calculated.

"All I seem to have is your word, Park! Show me actual progress! It's been eighteen years since they were created and we're still no closer to finding them. I know I wasn't president at the time but hell, they pose a threat and I intend to wipe that out. We have spent yet another useless morning chasing after a lead from one of your 'spies' in Zone 3 and we have nothing to prove, again. When are we going to get somewhere?"

"Patience, Cinco. We will have them soon enough," Park wheezes with a gross, grisly smile and stands, making his way towards the door, "I'm going to go have lunch. Would you care to join me?"

The president sighs and strides behind him, "Of course, Park. I could do with some food."

With that, the pair leave the room. I stay in the closet till their footsteps have died. My heart pounds. My breath is caught in my throat. The words running through my head are as elquoent and profund as always-

Crap crap crap crap crap shit shit shit crap crap crap crap.

I step out the wardrobe and bolt for the train door. Just as my hand touches the cool metal, the whole carriage lurches forward. Well hello there floor, nice to meet you. Voices yell throughout the place and I hear people coming my way. Scrambling up, I slip back into my wardrobe.

"-was that?" A voice enters the carriage, hurting my ears from how high and squeaky it is. Peeking through the keyhole for what feels like the hundredth time, I watch as the uptight woman with a nose so big and pointy she looks like Pinnochio march around the room. Behind her trails a small, chubby man, extremely large sweat stains showing through his fancy looking shirt.

"How am I supposed to know?" Sweat Ball snivels. This train is getting less fun by the minute. Pinnochio rolls her eyes and looks down at him through a veil of poker straight blonde hair.

"Regent, just go and see to Cinco! God knows you're useless at everything else!" She snaps, pratically pushing him towards the door with so much force he goes flying. He scurries out of the room, the woman stalking off in the other direction. I don't even wait this time. I leg it out of the cupboard and yank open the door. Wind rushes past me. I not sure where/who that's coming from. Sticking my head out of the door, light runs towards me on my left. Zone 1!

I step back slightly, readied myself for the jump. Jesus fucking Christ I'm jumping off a train. Maybe I shouldn't of had that cake. Or worn a dress today. Trying real hard to keep my food down, I focus on the platform which is coming up fast.

One. Two. Three.

I jump.
