A poem about two cats witnessing the arrival of a new dog |
| From the Window What is Miss Across the Street doing? Following around a wiggly Kobicha brown delinquent Tapping feet Crossing arms Back against the sprinkling rain and frosty breeze as car after car whiz by And I Window watcher Meet the green eyes across the street The Persian waiting in the Venetian curtains Ears point out to each side Bent near to broken in dismay Red Around the pristine white fur of his neck a collar that matches this stranger who is taking a dump in his front yard We both look away as the unmentionable is collected in a tiny heart covered bag Humans do this sometimes to show tribute How sad for the Persian And even worse She's leading this hooligan to their happy home I make a mental note to leave a dead mole on their doorstep in condolence 24Lines/140 Words |
