Word count: 291 Key words: Book, sky, test The Warrior of Prophecy "The elders of Aurora have spent many years searching kingdoms far and wide for ancient books of prophecy. In a land ravaged in war and darkness, these prophecies give us a beacon of hope. That one day a warrior whose heart is kind, body is strong and mind is wise, will bring about an era of prosperity and peace." The sky gazer looked out at the two young faces standing in front of him. Winter had turned to Spring and he knew it was time to test the newest of the elite warriors. Maybe today is the day, he thought. Alva approached and held the sword above her head. She had earned her spot as an elite warrior by jumping into an almost frozen river to save the life of a drowning child. The crowd had fallen silent in anticipation. They all knew that the gods would send a sign mark to the chosen one, but no one knew what that sign would be. "Alva, you have been tested and remain unmarked. You are not the one." She stepped back down and joined the other warriors, secretly relieved to be unmarked. Salazar then approached. He was well known for rescuing an entire family who were buried by an avalanche. He took the sword and raised it above his head. For a moment nothing happened, then the ground shook. The sword began to glow and the runic letters that were inscribed on the sword transferred to his skin. Swaying bands of colour poured out from the tip of his sword, sweeping through the sky like smoke in the wind. It remains there to this day. He was the warrior of prophecy and destined to bring the land out of darkness. |
