The silent pleadings of an adolescent to her mother.

I know why you are angry
I know why you are so
But it is not my fault
Maybe you should know.

I try to empathize
I try to be with you
But look more closely
The culprit,is it not you?

Whatever happens to us
Maybe it is reaction
I might be submissive
But you are the action.

Maybe you should look deeper
Open your eyes and see
I am not the keeper
Of all your miseries.

I have a soul too
Maybe tender than you
But I do not complain
When you inflict your pain.

The misery you inflict
Absent minded, on me
I have to be the grown up
When it is clear that you should be.

I try to forget and forgive
But I know you'll come by
I am afraid you never knew
It just cuts like a knife.
