Written with surprise in mind... describing it. |
| Anticipation curls around us Like a light breeze on a humid day Pleasant relief that begs for more We gather around the Christmas tree Our eyes wide with wonder Some reach in and take up the gifts Shaking them and making guesses But all is held in secret Wrapped in glittering paper And flashy silken bows When the time comes And anticipation is stretched to a fine wire We gather round the tree Gifts are handed out to all One at a time until we all hold one Some rip and tear in great delight Others slowly savour the experience But each face alights with pleasure And squeals of delight ring through the air As the presents are revealed.
