It's the small things in life that bring bonding between us.

"Mama's Bicycle Ride"

Mama and I set out on our bicycles
in the early morning hours,
We sought our special place
in the mountain sunshine.

Mama promised that today
we'd be part of God's stunning creations,
The iridescent dewdrops
hugged the leaves and blades of grass.

We smelled the spring day's alfalfa meadow,
Rode past daffodils announcing springtime,
stopped by a meandering creek
that ran along the cattle pasture.

We longed to dip our toes
in the cool ripples of water,
Mindful of Mother Nature, we thought better of it
and watched a twig sail down the creek.

Mama explained to me that
Mother Nature's wonders are God sent,
We should care for these great gifts,
Mama and I listened to Mother Nature's soliloquy.

She spoke to us and taught us
to respect all things of nature,
As we made our way home, I agreed with Mama,
Our early morning rides were well worth
getting out of our snug beds before dawn,
We both felt a new and peaceful serenity.
