A Pantoum poem. |
Snow comes down, the landscape all a-glisten; dusk draws its veil and welcomes in the night. The Gingerbread Mouse munches on his crouton; how picturesque inside the breath of life. Dusk draws its veil and welcomes in the night; I pause to watch the antics of a mouse. How picturesque inside the breath of life; life’s little pleasures are what life’s about. I pause to watch the antics of a mouse; herein my house abides for mouse in gnaw. Life’s little pleasures are what life’s about; before we know it, most of life is gone. Herein my house abides for mouse in gnaw; it is a salad tidbit from before. Before we know it, most of life is gone; refreshing are the scenes beyond the norm. It is a salad tidbit from before; I place it by the hole in back room’s wall. Refreshing are the scenes beyond the norm; a little mouse comes out to claim the calm. I place it by the hole in back room’s wall; around the corner I stop by to listen. A little mouse comes out to claim the calm; snow comes down, the landscape all a-glisten. 24 Lines (Pantoum Poem) Writer’s Cramp 1-18-16 _______ The Pantoum is a form of poetry similar to a villanelle in that there are repeating lines throughout the poem. It is composed of a series of quatrains; the second and fourth lines of each stanza are repeated as the first and third lines of the next. |
