What I Have Come To Understand

Following a piece... as I am prompted and seeing where it goes.

I would like to say
This month has not been a struggle
That words flowed
From a golden place
Where the muses smile
And grace us unbidden
But the forbidden words
Often trip me up.
I let the words flow
Deriving inspiration
From the required words...
Then look and see
They are there and must be cut
But the pain is both physical
And emotional
As I shear off the words
That cannot be...
I see the piece take on a form
I don't like as much
But sometimes
The changes work
And I can appreciate
The prompt
On a different level.
