Better

I would like to have known you much better
But my nerves, they just got in the way
Rainy days don’t get much wetter
Than the ones that I plan for today
There for so long on a platter
In orbit in arm’s distance, reach
Ignored for reasons that mattered… at first
Mind snubbed what the heart tried to teach
Disregarded for all the right reasons
With theories still valid today
Theories setup for the classroom
Not reasoned for epochs of play
Eras that have their own logic
Anarchic, so out of control
With bullet points few on the list yet,
yet driven home with so much soul
So it seems now I took the wrong lessons
With subjects too strict for my place
My course has become so unbalanced
And my path such a long lonely space
But you, I should’ve known better
And now that is clear to see
The things that I miss, or regret or…
The things that I never will be
