A modern day fable ... for adults.
The Owl, The Horse, and the Chickens

It had rained for several days but the sun had finally broken through the dreariness with a promise of a beautiful day. The farm came alive with activity as all of the animals celebrated in their own ways.

In a large oak, overlooking the horse pasture, a mother Owl encouraged her fledglings to come out. “Watch carefully, little ones. While there is great joy in the activities you see, there are many lessons to be learned. This is how we have become so wise.” The owlets hooted with glee.

In the pasture, a young stallion suddenly began running and jumping, kicking and bucking with delight. He became so engrossed with showing off his strength and power that he didn’t see the large mud pit that had formed in the middle of the field. With one giant leap, he soared into the air and landed right in the center of it, quickly sinking up to his chest.

Mother Owl turned to her nestlings. “What can we learn from this?” she asked.

The owlets hooted in unison, “Look before you leap!”

Mother Owl smiled and nodded assent.

“Help, help,” whinnied the stallion.

A clutch of chicks ran over to the horse. “We will help,” they offered.

Seeing no other offers, the horse thanked them, saying, “Help me now and I will help you sometime when you need it.”

Mother Owl turned to her nestlings. “What can we learn from this?” she asked.

The owlets hooted in unison, “A friend in need is a friend indeed!”

Mother Owl smiled and nodded assent.

The chicks ran to farm house to get the farmer yelling, “Cheep, cheep. The horse is stuck and needs help.” Yell as they might, the farmer did not come out. One chick noticed that the farmer had left his new car parked in the driveway. He told the others to follow him. Hopping into the car, they managed to get it started and drove it to where the horse was trapped. Grabbing the horse's halter, they tied it to the bumper and slowly backed up, freeing the horse from the mud.

Mother Owl turned to her nestlings. “What can we learn from this?” she asked.

The owlets hooted in unison, “Necessity is the mother of invention!”

Mother Owl smiled and nodded assent.

The horse, now free, shook himself and accidentally knocked two of the chicks into the very center of the bog. “Cheep, cheep. Help. We are now trapped,” yelled the chicks.

The horse, knowing he would not fit into the car, said, “Fear not. I have a plan.” He walked to the mud hole and straddled the pit. Once positioned, he thought of the mares he would soon see and his penis began to grow … and grow … and grow! Soon, it reached all the way to the ground. “Grab on, little chicks, and I will pull you to safety.”

The chicks did as they were told and the horse backed up, pulling them free of the danger. Everyone celebrated.

Mother Owl turned to her nestlings. “What can we learn from this?” she asked.

The owlets were silent, a confused look on their faces.

Mother Owl smiled and said, “It's obvious. If you have a big dick, you don’t need a fancy car to pick up chicks.”
