The Nutritious Picnic

I packed a picnic lunch
for my brood
They turned up their noses
at my selection of food

I made sandwiches
on submarine buns
full of roast, lean turkey, tomatoes, lettuce, and mayonnaise
to fuel a day of fun

Along with fresh vegetables and low fat dip
Carrots,tomatoes sprouts, and celery,
fruit flavored water and raspberry tea
fruit flavored yogurt and knox blox all made by me

I also packed fresh fruit galore
Plums,bananas, grapes, cherries too
Good treats that are also sweet
nutritious and good for you

When I displayed
my fabulous spread
Each member of my family
just shook their head

Where's my Pepsi, Coke,
and Mountain Dew?
Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, chips
and pizza rolls too?

I want candy, cookies,
and pudding as well
Sweets is what we like
can't you tell?

They chose to go hungry
and eat not a thing
I felt upset and angry
Wasted is what happened to what I bring

I can;t change what
my family likes
they went to the nearest burger place
on their bikes
