A Modern Malady

hopefully not a glimpse into our near future

Technological advances pave the way
to a better future those in the circuit say,

With promises of a connected tomorrow
All the maladroit trouble we will inevitably borrow!
The future sits in a polarized zone that's all too clear
while an apparatus of isolated pain looms emphatic and near-

Verbal persuasions of optimism and unity
give way to a reality surrendered community
We abnormally create a new world for us to hate
All the while thinking we relate-

Our assassin is ourselves and
in our social media decomposition we create
mediums of astonishing verbal hate-
a hothead posting of a political nature
or objectifying people to a horrid state,
Swipe left if pretty or right if trashed
All the while our world is all but crashed-

In this new world we pioneer, a genetic imprint of comatose desire
is placed upon us as we sow our seeds of murk and mire
on the nearing apocalypse of our own zombie like demise
and we may yet reap what we design!
