“Cripe Trent!” Kip said, looking at his friend in disgust.
“Hey,” said Trent, “you wanna see something cool? Come over near the bridge.”
Kip followed cautiously, Trent was fun but sometimes a bit over the edge.
“Wait for it.” Trent said, seeming to watch for something. “OK, now watch, and listen too.” He let out another huge burp, holding his head up so it seemed as if he was aiming it at the sky.
“Yikes! Did you see that?” a garbled voice said, “and look at that ring!”
Trent did it again, snickering.
“Woah! I saw it that time, I wonder what it is. Something big for sure!!” said another voice.
Trent let out a big laugh, “It happens every time. Cool huh!”
“Well what is it?” asked Kip, impressed.
“I don’t know,” answered Trent, "but it’s pretty neat, don’t you think? You want to try it?”
Kip tried a burp, but it was just tiny, and kind of quiet.
“We’ll practice,” said Trent, “I can teach you how to do the big ones, but it only works when the shadows are on the bridge.”
“That would be great!” said Kip excitedly as the two fish swam back out into the river.
