Building the world.
Describe the cultural, political and/or religious setting in your novel. What do your societies believe? In what practices do they engage? What kind of government rules your world? What laws or rules of society are in place? Who enforces them? How successful is enforcement of laws and rules? How does this setting impact your protagonist?

Five types of people in this world:

Charion (warrior) - Earth element magic
Sade (wizard) - Water element magic
Windsor (archer) - Air element magic
Phoenix (wizard) - Fire element magic
Mundane - children and those without magic

Those with magic also called Taliesin.

Society is made up of two different geographical areas. Towns are gated and protected. Countryside is over run by creatures of the Darkness that have the ability to kill or poison even those that possess magic. The kingdom is ruled by single royal family and made up of four different towns, a port, and an island. Island is completely overrun by Darkness, thus very few visitors. Urbania is the capitol city where royalty resides and connection to shipping port (Port Locks) and secluded wizard town of Sumner, accessible only by boat. Mount Taliesin is the town north of capitol where the heart of the magic resides and where most training is done. Jordan is a small town west of other two larger towns. Sumner is farther west, but land access is blocked by large wall built half a century earlier. Boat, wagon/horses, and by foot are the only ways to travel, although Windsor does have a slight advantage of speed, agility, and swiftness in trees.

Magic was bestowed on the general public after the Darkness took over the land. Originally given to four daughters in four pieces - earth, fire, water, air. Ritual placed the power under Mount Taliesin Inn, so that others could accept a specific path to help fight the Darkness.

There is a small fringe group of mostly Charion warriors who believe that they were the strongest and most important of the Taliesin, who call themselves Renegades. They tolerate and often ally themselves with Windsor, yet have no respect for wizards. This group has existed off and on for half a century since the Darkness existed, but at the beginning of the book they are believed to be non-existent.

Protagonist is a Phoenix wizard, although is different from others. She carries with her the spirit of the original Phoenix wizard, who has trained her and given her knowledge of the path since she was a small child. She is told by this spirit that the Renegades are planning to attack wizards, and they must be stopped.
