"The Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens has been a holiday staple. Now, dance to it! |
The Christmas Carol Ballet, based on The Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, is scheduled for its American premier on tomorrow evening, November 18, 2016 in my hometown of Statesboro, Georgia. The creator/director/Mr. Scrooge is Jurijs Safonovs. This is a truly international cast representing the United States, Latvia and Poland. The director is creating this ballet as a new holiday tradition, that may be enjoyed as The Nutcracker Ballet by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky has been enjoyed here, locally, in recent years. The Christmas Carol Ballet as presented by Mr. Safonovs includes the music of Tchaikovsky. Most notable are selections from his Sixth Symphony, subtitled, "The Passionate Symphony" by the composer himself, but it is often called, "Pathetique" as mistranslated into French. Yours Truly, Jay O'Toole, will be performing in the ballet for the first time, going by my given name in the program. If you are in the area and would like to welcome in the Christmas season in Georgia, USA, then please join us on Friday and Saturday, (November 18 & 19, 2016) at 7:00 PM and Sunday afternoon, (November 20, 2016) at 2:00 PM at the Emma Kelly Theater in beautiful downtown Statesboro, Georgia, located between Macon and Savannah. Let me be the first to wish you a marvelous Christmas season! :D |
