The lone soldier rides the train to nowhere
He is heading there now so very fast
He knows the enemy lay close out there
He wishes he could now go home at last.
The train takes him to his embarkation
He had to leave else everything behind
At the port his means of transportation
As the war weighs heavily on his mind.
He would die for his country if need be
Or help another soldier die for his
He does what he must do for liberty
For in his mind freedom is what it is.
The train to nowhere going off to war
The soldier aboard it will be no more.
