Mankind seems headed toward a final countdown! What will our end be?
So, what will be the end result
of Man's extremity?
We seem to want to Self exult
in fullest Liberty!

We have our focus just on "me,
and if you're fine that's good,
But if my freedom, I don't see,
then watch out for my mood!"

For many millions on this globe
it's daily food and care.
They need a meal and cov'ring robe
and hope that breaks the stare.

What is when Final Countdown's o'er?
Who wins and who will lose?
Will we have life forevermore?
Will we our own end choose?

Will some leave Earth to find new home
on Venus after years
Of travel through the stars as roam
to peace, away from fears?

Will Mars give hope of lasting peace
as kiss we wars goodbye?
Or will we there our seeds release
of discontented cry?

The Final Countdown makes us think,
"Just what will be our end?"
One day the end may come as blink,
before our hope can mend.

Escape our fallen planet we
may hope to fly away,
But where can we yet hope to be
apart from inner play?

"For we have met the enemy,
and he is truly us!"
As Pogo spoke for all to see
in written words to trust.

The heart within doth daily seek
to greater Victor find,
That Son be found so loving meek
that eyes no more be blind.

The Final Countdown will soon end...
in year or decade,...more?
Will centuries yet to Earth he send...
'fore see what waits in store?

The Final Countdown has begun
for ev'ry soul the same.
Each day we live is less by one
in life than when we came.

So, what will be the end result,
when my life is at end?
Will hope bring Joy that heart exult?
Will zero never mend?

The Final Countdown is quite real,
but Grace and Mercy still
Are realer far than heart can feel
and mind can give its will.

We flee to Life in One Who lives
and rose upon Third Day.
The truest Hope is what He gives.
It counts in last display.
