Footsteps Through My Mind

Take a few footsteps through my mind,
and you will see, I am not as graceful
and free as I appear.

As you walk through my thoughts,
you may not like the wretchedness you see;
scars and jagged walls still cut.

Dark ravines carved by rivers of tears,
brought on by trauma of the past
hide the blackened shadows.

It’s not all bad; good memories
remain untainted by evil intrusions,
leaving hope intact for a better tomorrow.

Take a few footsteps through my mind,
and you will see, I am growing
more graceful and free.
