Ugly on Purpose
So that people can’t see
I might actually care
What they think about me

I don’t do my hair
It’s a messy short fro
My wardrobe is baggy
So that you won’t know

Inside this tough
exterior shell
Is a tiny frail girl
that’s not doing well

I’m scared and I’m weak
I cry every night
I know in my heart
That something’s not right

My house is too quiet
I just don’t fit in
And nobody talks
Of the trauma within

I’ll grow up angry
Defiant and strong
It will take years to realize
I’ve done nothing wrong
