The breaking of peace. |
| The singing of birds. The burning rays of light. The winds calling my name. Children’s laughter. This field of peace. Happiness. Hope. Perhaps too much. I lay in the field Staring up at the clouds Envisioning life elsewhere. …. I awoke near a lake. I was somewhere new. Somewhere darker. Somewhere dead. I walk towards the bank Expecting something to come out. “Hello?” That was the only word I could speak, For I had been dragged down under. I struggle to break free But it was no use. This being was far too powerful And had taken me to the bottom Where I came face to face with Him. He is pain. Agony. Destruction. Death. I smile, for I had been waiting all my life for the peace to break. This was my fate. The Red Lake brought me home, For what is life without darkness? Serena Martin January 25, 2018 |
