A word to new writers; a reminder for the practiced

If I were to offer any advice to new inspiring writers it would be:

Write first and edit later.

Write.
Get what's in your heart, in your mind and on your chest out onto the pages.
Write, write, write until your hands cramp and your eyes burn.
Write until your mind shuts off and you can't think of one more thing to write.
Then write some more.

Edit.

There is something magical in tweaking sentences,
playing
                   with
                              words,
watching your work unfold into something readable for others.

So have fun, be patient, use all the tools available to you here on writing.com
Free write, create bio's for your characters, draw out the plot draw out your conflict and draw in your reader.

But most importantly, write for you.

This is your outlet, your passion and your gift. This story belongs to you before it ever belongs to anybody else.
