Fair Reaction

On hearing the craft fair is cancelled.

Mad as a wet hen with a knot in my gut,
Cologne Craft Fair cancelled, postponed until
March of 2021—now that’s a fine how-dee-do!
I so intended to attend this year, yet now
I seethe tea kettle steam, I knit my
frustration into knots, I crochet
mad to red and green plaid
hunting shirts so I can
stalk a grizzly bear…

…that Covid virus is
to blame, a microscopic
culprit he, producing panic,
(lockdown too) yet I would like
to take my heel and beat it senseless.

No opportunity to know the yarn producers
and fine designers of the craft, and thus
my back side smolders long and my
blood pressure rings a bell (that
stomach ulcer imminent, oh
I can feel), and all because
a virus wee, creating a
worldwide urgency
as I am left to sit
and simmer—I
have no fair,
so I must
scream.
