My Soldier Blue, I love you!

As I watch you board the plane to fly away for yet another time.
I know it is your call of duty that takes you there.
I know it is the love of your family and country.
That takes you to some dangerous places.
Ones I can’t even comprehend.

Should I tell you how my heart yearns for your touch?
My brain searches its memory bank.
For the words of love, you have spoken to me.
Do I dare speak of them or keep silent?
I pray that you know how much I love you.
If I don’t speak those words.
Dreading that they may be my last, I ever utter to you.

Wait! I scream as I run towards you.
You turn just in time to catch me rushing into your arms.
You look down into my tear-filled eyes.
Wiping the tears away with your fingertips.
You smile and whisper in my ear.
Be strong, my love.
It is ok, my love.
I shall return, my love!
I whisper back to you of love, pride, and the strength you have.

As you turn and walk away, the tears slide down your cheeks.
Together we dream of holding each other once again.
We are staying strong for one another while apart.
I’m so proud of you and the things you do for others.
Protecting us against evil, you are God’s Warrior, no doubt.

A story poem, a glimpse of what goes through your mind as they prepare to leave. I want to dedicate this to all those who have a love of their life in the military. Happy Valentine's Day to you all. Thank you for the sacrifices you demonstrate daily. Hug the one you love, and don't be afraid to tell them of the love inside you. It will help them stay strong.
