Impermanent moments and unrealized hopes

All That Will Never Be

This blue-shelled egg, nest-fallen,
Will never soar or lay;
That dinosaur fossil, long-gone deep,
Won’t stretch its limbs today.

An old speculator (with young hopes)
Won’t live to launch to Mars;
Fluorescent fish swarm the sea floor
never noticing stars.

From some shell - sky blue? -
T-Rex hatched and grew;
SpaceX puzzles new minds;

Bright fish that swim
Through the salt-wet dim
Savor the food they find.
