Surprising that we ever thought them scary
But now that Hallmark's done it's commercial best
Halloween is far cuter than a fairy
with witches, ghouls and zombies, and all the rest.

Children will dress to thrill and beg for candy
For a ghost a simple bed sheet will suffice
An eerie howl their modus operandi
Playing trick or treat, they're never asking twice.

A vampire never sucks in modern stories
He's a heart throb, or she's a femme fatale
Igors hang about in laboratories
Always waiting on the hero and et al.

A Mummy's curse is no worse than modern life
They're failing, but then they keep that under wraps.
The werewolf views full moon a source of strife
Shape shifter with a periodic relapse.

Best let's not mention then the scariest creature
Besides them every other one waxes pale
If I were to say 'mathematics teacher'
I am sure you would soon hound me off to jail!
