the eternal kiss
She poured a desert into an hourglass
just to make a little more time
and drew a line in the sand

Falling silica eternally crossing the Rubicon
as in heaps and mounds critically self organised
it slithered slipped and skittered
avalanched accumulating
whilst expending the several precious hours

Forever was not enough to satisfy
the urgent longing in her breast
for open ended endurance

A moment
not pickle preserved in walnut wrinkled acidity
nor yet stretched and distorted
but prolonged pristine perfect and without blemish
unbruised by the unending battering of crushed corals

Just a mere meeting of lips
the only outward sign of their sharing
all that is
         that was
                   that will be
