More than forbidden fruit can be found in the Garden of Eden. |
And on the morning of the second day, Eve said to Adam, “I am very hungry. Will thou retrieve for me a piece of fruit from that tree?” But Adam knew that the Lord had deemed the fruit forbidden, so he said to Eve, “Would not my lady be more satisfied with the meat of a fattened cow?” And Eve said to Adam, “Yes, perhaps I could be happy with a piece of meat. But might I have something more on top of the meat, to give it a softer texture and richer flavor?” And Adam said to Eve, “Of course. The Lord has taught me how to extract a pure white liquid from the sac of a cow. And, although it might sound unpleasant, the Lord assured me that I would find it satisfying to drink such liquid. And I believed, and I drank some of the liquid, and it was good.” And Eve said to Adam, “But if you pour the liquid onto the meat, will it not immediately flow off and spill to the ground?” Adam laughed. “Yes, of course. But I failed to tell you what the Lord taught me about preparing the liquid. He showed me how to create a rich yellow material from the liquid. A material that is solid, but also soft, so it can be cut into thin layers. And If you place a layer of the yellow material on top of a piece of meat from the cow, I am certain you will be quite pleased with the flavor.” And Eve was happy. And she said to Adam, “I wish very much to taste this creation. But will it take much time to prepare?” Adam laughed again. “Yes, if I were to prepare it from the cow you see over there. But the Lord knew that you would soon be hungry, and would not be eager, or even able, to wait very long before you would need sustenance. Is that not true, Lord?” And the Lord said to Adam, “Yes, my son. That is true.” Instantly, Adam and Eve saw before them a ball of flame. And when the flame had disappeared, there sat a flat slab of wood, on which lay two rounded, brownish objects, which the Lord had created by grinding wheat from the garden. And each brownish object had been split in half. And between the two halves of each brownish object lay a dark brown circle of meat from a cow. And on top of the cow meat in each brownish object lay two thin slices of yellow material. Adam approached the brownish objects, picked one from the flat slab of wood, and offered it to Eve. But before she could take it from him, the Lord's voice boomed down upon them. “Adam,” spoke the Lord. “Yes, Lord?” “Do you want fries with that?” |
