Birds

Today was Draw a Bird Day. I am not as good as John Auden so I wrote a poem instead.

Their beauty is without comparison.
The way they move in air is breathtaking.
This animal should forever be worthy
of being forever captured by paint or photograph.


Could I pass a day without thinking of this master of soaring, fly past my yard?
or zooming towards some unexpecting bug meal?
or singing its song of love for an eligible mate?
or bringing its prize to its' featherless babies?

No matter whether it is large or small
Raptor or granivorous
Domesticated or wild
Caged or free

Few animals have gained the respect like the bird.
The species of birds present a group
that one could ask no more than to be, to live
and to fill our dreams with a group we will adore.
