We can no longer ignore the shadows... A Daily Poem Grand Prize Winner (Form: Roundabout)

Shadows At The Door

"Itโ€™s helter-skelter in the streets,โ€
I said watching the news.
"But it's not here,
I have no fear,โ€
I said watching the news.

"Widows cry and children scream.
They're far away from here.โ€
Touching, I see
but not to me.
โ€œThey're far away from here."

Dark flames of this Satanโ€™s spell
touch us every day.
We long for light
Yet only night
touches us every day.

We canโ€™t turn away from what goes on
and sacrifice what's right.
We cannot yield
to whatโ€™s been revealed
and sacrifice what's right.
