The Mind's Eye

Shining eyes like the past long forgotten -
Luminous and blue.
The first time it looked into them,
It felt its whole world turning to you.
If you shall remain only in its mind's eye, forevermore
Then allow it to plant itself anew;
For the longer you stay, the stronger it grows.

Scarlet foliage sweeps the planes and turns its attention elsewhere
Your sturdy figure stands as tall as the largest tree:
Confident, caring, compassionate.
It can't touch you -
Can't hold you, can't feel you.
It knows in its mind that this is wrong,
But the more it lingers, the stronger these feelings grow

You burn it up, tie its stomach in knots.
Within it whirls a raging inferno.
All to you, it owes the pleasure that erupts.
Silken hair, so short against your scalp -
Officewear and polyester-green disguising my true intentions

Yes, mine -
You would kick and scream as I pulled you in
Large hands balling into instinctive fists as I hold you by the neck
I try to get close to you -
But I fear I may not be able to control myself, much longer.

You don't deserve this
You don't deserve any of this.
A man so true and so faithful to others -
And here I am, trampling upon the empire you built with your own two hands

Few people have made me feel this way
Of all people, a man like you should never have been one of them.

Daring swordsmen swing and slash at one another,
Glinting sabres dancing in the night
A silver glow cascades over them,
Just like your eyes the first time I truly stopped to look over that face.
I don't have the courage that they do,
But I hope that one day I'll come to forget all of this
